Our Story

As a group of young, aspiring software engineers, we noticed something troubling: our parents, neighbors, and friends were struggling to design their dream landscapes. They had the vision, but not the tools.

Traditional landscape design software was expensive—thousands of dollars for professional licenses. It required extensive training and steep learning curves. The learning curve was so steep that most homeowners gave up before even starting. Meanwhile, hiring professional designers cost thousands more, putting beautiful outdoor spaces out of reach for typical families.

We watched talented homeowners with creative ideas hit wall after wall:

• High Software Costs: Professional CAD tools cost $1,000+ per year
• Complex Interfaces: Tools designed for professionals, not everyday users
• Limited Plant Knowledge: Homeowners didn't know which plants worked in their climate
• Visualization Challenges: Hard to see how designs would look in real life
• Communication Barriers: Difficult to share ideas with family or contractors

There had to be a better way. So we decided to build it ourselves.

We started with late-night coding sessions. Weekends spent researching plant databases, climate zones, and user interface design. Countless conversations with homeowners, landscape designers, and gardening enthusiasts to understand what people actually needed.

We faced challenges typical of any startup:

• Building a comprehensive plant database with thousands of species
• Creating intuitive interfaces that felt simple but were powerful under the hood
• Integrating AI that understood context and provided genuinely helpful suggestions
• Designing visual zone planning tools that worked on any device
• Making collaboration features that helped families work together

But with each challenge came learning. With each iteration came improvement. And with each user who successfully designed their first landscape, we knew we were on the right path.
